The rain that was forecast for today finished by just after midday, as was the washing, so we decided to walk along the Shoalhaven River and follow a walk called Ben's Walk.
The walk starts at Hanging Rock - I'm sure every region has a 'hanging' rock - there's one in Victoria, one in Bateman's Bay, one in the Blue Mountains, and now we've seen one in Nowra. Pretty impressive. Here are pics from above and below.
From there, the path winds around the Shoalhaven River, then once over the suspension bridge it follows the Nowra Creek, with a river crossing at the top end of the walk. It was muddy in a few places, but a really awesome walk. To be honest, it was enhanced by being after some good rains. Here are some highlights.
Apparently, there are some Indigenous rock art in caves at the far end of the walk - we didn't see them, though. Something to look out for when we come back next time.
We were amazed that this walk was so close to a big town, yet it felt so remote; it was peaceful and a real opportunity to connect with nature at its best. We commented that we were a mere millisecond in the whole scheme of things, walking among things that were millions of years in the making.
By the time we walked into town, followed Ben's Walk and the Hanging Rock trail, and back home again, we'd clocked up nearly 11km. Not bad for a day we thought we'd be stuck inside all day. Hopefully, the rain forecast for tomorrow is kind to us again.

That's clearly a brilliant walk and rock scramble. You had me confused as to your where-abouts as I had done some rock climbing at 'Hanging Rock' as a Rover scout in Victoria, but that's miles away! That really is a gem of a track and hike. Great. Strong photos too.
